Michelle joined the Local Authority in November 1991, after beginning her career with the North West Regional Health Authority Finance Team. Whilst in her role at Salford City Council, she had worked in a number of positions whilst studying AAT and Cipfa.
Whilst in her role as Accountant with the LA she was fortunate to be offered a role on the LA Inspection Team and during their first inspection in 2001, the LA received a “good” judgement and this experience encouraged her to seek a role with a broader spectrum of responsibility.
In 2002 Michelle had the opportunity to work with the Salford and Trafford Education Action Zone during their final year in operation and received an Excellence Award from the LA for being the first EAZ in the country to close the accounts whilst remaining dedicated to her work at Salford LA.
In 2004 Michelle joined Buile Hill Visual Arts College as their Business Manager. During this period Michelle was instrumental in the process of removing a £1.8m deficit over a 5 year period through robust financial management, staff deployment and structural analysis.
The school have recently moved to a balanced budget under her management. Michelle has also taught Childcare, supported ITT developments and provides extended enrichment opportunities for vulnerable children through her love of horses and horse riding. Michelle has agreed to a part time secondment with Consilium and will operate in a joint role, increasing the split as the Trust grows.
