Consilium Academies Celebrates GCSE Results Day 2024

Consilium Academies is thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students across all of our schools on GCSE Results Day. This year has been a testament to the resilience, dedication, and hard work of our students, staff, and the entire Consilium community.

Among the notable achievements are: 

Armthorpe Academy 

  • One of the standout success stories is that of Katryna, a Ukrainian refugee who joined Armthorpe Academy in Year 10 after fleeing the conflict in her home country. Despite the upheaval in her life and the challenges of adapting to a new school, Katryna has achieved outstanding GCSE results, gaining grades 6-9 across all her subjects. Katryna's achievements are a testament to her hard work, determination, and the support provided by the Armthorpe Academy community.

 

  • Also among the top achievers is Faith, who has consistently worked hard throughout all five years at Armthorpe Academy. Faith’s commitment to her studies has paid off, as she has achieved exceptional results, with 8 grade 7-9s across her subjects. Faith's success is a shining example of how dedication, consistent effort, and a positive attitude can lead to outstanding academic achievement. She has been a role model for her peers, embodying the values of resilience, determination, and a passion for learning that we aim to instil in all our students.

 

  • A big congratulations goes to Martin who has achieved at least 2 grades above his target grade in ever subject, this is a real testament to his ongoing resilience, hard work and continued perseverance. Martin has never given up, even when things have been challenging and we are all very proud of his achievements this summer.

 

  • Another student whose story stands out is Sam, who joined Armthorpe Academy from Nigeria in Year 11. Despite arriving at a crucial stage of his education, Sam quickly assimilated into the school community and demonstrated remarkable determination to succeed. His hard work has paid off, as he has achieved grades 6 and above across all his subjects.  Sam's journey is a testament to his ability to adapt and excel in a new environment is truly inspiring, and we are incredibly proud of his achievements.

Ellesmere Park High School 

  • Fraser Livesey has made more than 2 grades of progress, across all subjects, at his time at Ellesmere achieving 7 grade 9s and one grade 7 due to hard work and determination. 

 

  • Aisha Dampha is planning to study medicine with 3 grade 9, 5 grade 8, smashing her targets and excelling with 9’s in English Literature, Maths and Chemistry.

 

  • Ayan Jafri achieved an impressive 6 grade 9s (English Language, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, a Level 2 distinction star in Business and a 7 in English Literature.

 

  • Liliana Wlodarczyk has made over 2 grades additional progress despite challenging circumstances. She gained a grade 9 in her Art and is off to study this as her chosen career. She scored a level 2 Distinction * in music, grade7s in both English Language and Literature and grade 6 in Science, Geography and Maths. Her creative genes will take her to a brilliant future.

 

  • Gabrielo Fiyinfolu achieved 2 grade 9s, in Chemistry and Maths, 4 x grade 8, in sports studies, Biology, Physics Further maths a grade 7 and a 6 English language and Literature.

 

  • Alice Kerfoot secured sn amazing English Language grade 8, English literature grade 8, maths grade 8, Combined Science, grade 8:8 Geography grade 8, Spanish Grade 8, Music Level 2 Distinction,  Statistics grade 7.

Heworth Grange School 

 

●       Connor Patterson; Grade 9 in Mathematics, Grade 9-8 in Combined Science, Grade 7s in English Language, English Literature and Geography, and Level 2 Distinctions in Enterprise and Engineering.

●       Ruchit Abbu Rakesh; Grade 9 in Mathematics, Grade 9-9 in Combined Science, Grade 8 in History, Grade 7 in English Literature, Grade 6 in English Language, Grade 4 in Music, and Level 2 Distinction in Engineering.

●       Grace McGinley; Grade 9 in History, Grade 8 in English Literature, Grade 7 in English Language, Grade 7-6 in Combined Science, Grade 6s in Mathematics and Art & Design, and Level 2 Distinction in Dance.

●      Thomas Mabbitt; Grade 9 in Mathematics, Grade 9-9 in Combined Science, Grade 8s in English Literature, Geography and History, Grade 7 in English Language, and Grade 6 in Music.

●       Janelle Labro; Grade 8-8 in Combined Science, Grade 8s in History and Spanish, Grade 7s in Mathematics and Religious Education, and Grade 6s in English Language and Literature.

Moorside High School

  • Danny Berry achieved 7 Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8s, 1 Grade 7 and is intending to study A Level Geography, Mathematics and Spanish at Pendleton College
  • Grace Jackson achieved 4 Grade 9s and 5 Grade 8s, she is intending to study A Level Biology, Computer Science Maths and Further Maths at Loreto College
  • Reilly Williams achieved 5 Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8s and 2 Grade 7s and is looking forward to be going on to study A Levels at Winstanley College
  • Evie Ollerhead achieved, 2 Grade 9s, 3 Grade 8s, 2 Grade 7s and a Distinction*. Evie is also going to be studing A Levels at Winstanley College in September. 

Thornhill Academy

  • Rejjat Husen has secured an amazing five Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and two Grade 6s. He is a credit to the school community and his story demonstrates that, irrespective of your starting point, anything is possible. He attended revisions sessions in school, twilight sessions online as well as working incredibly hard at home. He is off to Bede College to study History, Maths Geography 

 

  • Hoang Minh Lam Joined Thornhill in 2023 from Vietnam and spoke very little English. Despite this barrier he has taken all opportunities to work with our staff to prepare for exams. He is leaving Thornhill with a Grade 9 in Maths, Chemistry and Physics and a strong pass of Grade 5 in both English Literature and Language. He also secured a level 2 Distinction in Enterprise and a Grade 8 in Biology.  He is moving onto New College Durham to study Physics, Computer Science and Chemistry

 

  • Lyxander Philippe Schleinitz has achieved a Grade 9 in Computer Science and Graphic Communication. This young man is very computational and therefore has excelled in his area of interest. He is also leaving with a strong grade in Further Mathematics too and will be studying Physics and Computer Science at Durham Sixth Form.

Washington Academy

  • Oliver Hall achieved four top end grades of Grade 9, including English Literature and language, History and Physics, backed up by Grade 8s and 7s in other subjects. 

 

  • Tom Bainbridge, Washington’s Head Boy, exceeded all of his targets of majority Grade 5s to achieve Grade 6s and 7s. His progress score shows he exceeded grades by almost two full grades! 

 

  • Faith Bergrun achieved Grades 7s in English, Maths and Physics and a positive progress score means she achieved much higher than expected. 

 

  • Niniola Olaoniye, a student who has English as an additional language, achieved Grade 7s in English, Maths and Geography and a Grade 6s in the other subjects taken, as well as a distinction in a Sport vocational course.

Wyvern Academy 

 

  • Ella Ketteringham, Wyvern’s Head Girl, achieved Grade 9s in Physics and Biology, 8s in English language and Literature, Maths, Chemistry, Geography, a 7 in French and Distinction * in Sports studies.
  • Luca Ketteringham, the school’s Deputy Head Boy, achieved a Grade 9 in Chemistry, an 8 in Biology and 7s in English Language, English Literature, Maths, Physics, Geography and Music.
  • Charlotte Leeton achieved a Grade 8 in English Literature, Grade 7s in English Language and History and Distinction * in Health and Social care.
  • Josh Freemantle achieved an 8 in Biology and Grade 7s in English Literature, Maths, Chemistry and Physics.
